Religion

Can we bound love, wisdom & humanity in any religion?

Can we bound air, water or light in any religion?

Then how can we bound God & ourselves in any religion?

God is almighty & is above all boundaries & so as all its creations including human beings. So dividing ourselves from others in the name of religion is against the God. These religions are just the different ways to worship God & teachings to live for humanity as a whole. What will be the difference if I pray God in temple, mosque or church or just by my heart without going anywhere. It is only these priests who divide us for their mean intentions of showing their supremacy over others. Whereas supremacy is not in the way of pray, it is in the purity with which we pray.

I born & live with my religion. My religion is to realize & to live for my family, motherland & humanity. So, it is our perception & performing our duties that forms our religion we live for & it could be different for different people & even for two brothers as per their thoughts & aims of life.

True Religion is not the way we pray to God, but it is to follow the path of God to live for love, peace & humanity as a whole that cannot be bounded by any boundaries. We need to see & feel God beyond these shear boundaries, as "God has no religion its only we who need it to pray God".

Jainism

Jainism is an Indian religion that prescribes pacifism and a path of non-violence towards all living beings. Its philosophy and practice emphasize the necessity of self-effort to move the soul towards divine consciousness and liberation. Any soul that has conquered its own inner enemies and achieved the state of Supreme Being is called Jina (Conqueror or Victor). Jainism is also referred to as Shraman (self-reliant) Dharma or the religion of Nirgantha (who does not have attachments and aversions) by ancient texts. Jainism is commonly referred to as Jain Dharma in Hindi and Samanam in Tamil.

                                 Jain Cosmology
Jains do not acknowledge an intelligent first cause as the creator of the universe. The Jain theory is that the universe has no beginning or end. It is traced to jiva and ajiva, the two everlasting, uncreated, independent and coexisting categories. Consciousness is jiva. That which has no consciousness is ajiva. There are five substances of ajiva:
Dharma           :the medium of motion.
Adharma         : the medium of rest
Akasha            : space
Pudgala           : matter
Kala                : time

Core Beliefs:

  • Every living being has a soul.
  • Every soul is potentially divine, with innate qualities of infinite knowledge, perception, power, and bliss (masked by its karmas).
  • Therefore regard every living being as you do yourself, harming no one and being kind to all living beings.
  • Every soul is born as a heavenly being, human, sub-human or hellish being according to its own karma.
  • Every soul is the architect of its own life, here or hereafter.
  • When a soul is freed from karmas, it becomes free and attains divine consciousness, experiencing infinite knowledge, perception, power, and bliss.
  • Right Faith, Right Knowledge, and Right Conduct (triple gems of Jainism) provide the way to this realisation. There is no supreme divine creator, owner, preserver, or destroyer. The universe is self-regulated, and every soul has the potential to achieve divine consciousness (siddha) through its own efforts.
  • Jainism stresses the importance of controlling the senses including the mind, as they can drag one far away from true nature of the soul.
  • Enjoy the company of the holy and better-qualified, be merciful to afflicted souls, and tolerate the perversely inclined.
  • Four things are difficult for a soul to attain:

  1. Human birth,
  2. Knowledge of the laws governing the souls,
  3. Absolute conviction in the philosophy of non-violence, and
  4. Practicing this knowledge with conviction in everyday life activities.

  • It is, therefore, important not to waste human life in evil ways. Rather, strive to rise on the ladder of spiritual evolution.
  • The goal of Jainism is liberation of the soul from the negative effects of unenlightened thoughts, speech, and action. This goal is achieved through clearance of karmic obstructions by following the triple gems of Jainism.
  • Navakar Mantra is the fundamental prayer in Jainism and can be recited at any time of the day. Praying by reciting this mantra, the devotee bows in respect to liberated souls still in human form (Arihantas), fully liberated souls forever free from re-birth(Siddhas), spiritual leaders (Acharyas), teachers (Upadyayas) and all the monks and nuns(sarva sadhus [monks], sadhvis [nuns]). By saluting them saying "namo namaha", Jains receive inspiration from them to follow their path to achieve true bliss and total freedom from the karmas binding their souls. In this main prayer, Jains do not ask for any favours or material benefits. This mantra serves as a simple gesture of deep respect toward beings that are more spiritually advanced. The mantra also reminds followers of the ultimate goal of reaching nirvana or moksha.
  • Jains worship the icons of Jinas, Arihants, and Tirthankars, who have conquered their inner passions and attained divine consciousness, and study the scriptures of these liberated beings.
  • Jainism acknowledges the existence of powerful heavenly souls (Yaksha and Yakshini) that look after the well-beings of Tirthankarars. Usually, they are found in pair around the icons of Jinas as male (yaksha) and female (yakshini) guardian deities. Even though they have supernatural powers, these deities are also souls wandering through the cycles of births and deaths just like most other souls. Over time, people started worshiping these deities as well.

The Five Pillars (Principles) of Jainism:
Jains believe that to attain enlightenment and ultimately liberation, one must practice the following ethical principles (major vows) in thought, speech and action. The degree to which these principles are practiced is different for householders and monks. They are:
Non-violence (Ahinsa) – to cause no harm to living beings. This is the fundamental vow from which all other vows stem. It involves minimizing intentional and unintentional harm to any other living creature. "Non-violence" is sometimes interpreted as not killing, but the concept goes far beyond that. It includes not harming or insulting other living beings, either directly, or indirectly through others. It also includes respecting the views of others (non-absolutism and acceptance of multiple views).
Truthfulness (Satya) – to always speak the truth in a harmless manner. A person who speaks the truth becomes trustworthy like a mother, venerable like a preceptor and dear to everyone like a kinsman. Given that non-violence has priority, all other principles yield to it, whenever there is a conflict. For example, if speaking truth will lead to violence, it is perfectly ethical to be silent.
Non-stealing (Asteya) – to not take anything that is not willingly given. Asteya, "non-stealing", is the strict adherence to one's own possessions, without desire to take another's. One should remain satisfied by whatever is earned through honest labour. Any attempt to squeeze material wealth from others and/or exploit the weak is considered theft. Some of the guidelines for this principle are:
Always give people fair value for labor or product.
Never take things that are not offered.
Never take things that are placed, dropped or forgotten by others.
Never purchase cheaper things if the price is the result of improper method (e.g., pyramid scheme, illegal business, stolen goods, etc.)
Celibacy (Brahmacharya) – to control the senses including mind from indulgence. The basic intent of this vow is to conquer passion and to prevent the waste of energy. In this vow, the house holder must not have a sensual relationship with anybody other than one's own spouse. Jain monks and nuns should practice complete abstinence from sex.
Non-possession or Non-materialism (Aparigraha) – to detach from people, places, and material things. Ownership of an object itself is not possessiveness; however, attachment to an object is possessiveness. For householders, non-possession owns without attachment, because the notion of possession is illusory. The reality of life is that change is constant; thus, objects owned by someone today will be property of someone else in future. The householder is encouraged to discharge his or her duties to related people and objects as a trustee, without excessive attachment or aversion. For monks and nuns, non-possession is complete renunciation of property and relations including home and family.

    Buddhism

    Buddhism:
Buddhism is a philosophy of life expounded by Gautama Buddha ("Buddha" means "enlightened one"), who lived and taught in northern Inda in the 6th Century B.C. The Buddha was not a god and the philosophy of Buddhism does not entail any theistic world-view. The teachings of the Buddha are aimed solely to liberate sentient beings from suffering.

    Teachings of Buddhism

Buddha followed a simple path and inspired people to lead a simple life. His message to people was that the world is full of sufferings and a man could attain salvation by following his teachings contained in the eight fold path and four Noble Truths.

    Four Noble Truths

The essence of Buddhism lies in Four Noble Truths. They are:
    1. The world is full of suffering.
    2. The suffering has a cause.
    3. Desire is the cause of suffering.
    4. If desire is stopped, suffering can also be stopped.
    Eight Fold Path

The way to nirvana, in Buddhism, or the path that leads to removal of suffering, is known as the eight fold path (asthangika marg) or the middle path.

It is a path midway between luxurious living and hard penance.
    • Right Action : To remain away from theft, luxuries and violence.
    • Right Thought : To remain away from empty rituals and worldly evils.
    • Right Belief : To give up desire.
    • Right Living : Not to have dishonest dealings with others.
    • Right Speech : Speak the truth and do not think ill of others.
    • Right Effort : Work for deliverance from sins and for the welfare of others.
    • Right Recollection : Think about pious things.
    • Right Meditation : Concentrate on only what is right.
    Buddha's Attitude Towards God

Buddha held that the whole universe was controlled by Dharma, a universal law. He was silent about the existence of God, though he never formally denied it. Like Mahavira he emphasised non-violence.

    Code of Conduct

Buddha formulated a code of conduct for his followers. This is included the following:
    • Not to tell a lie.
    • Not to own property.
    • Not to consume alcoholic drinks.
    • Not to commit violence.
    • Not to indulge in corrupt practices.
Karma : Like Hinduism, Buddhism believed in the theory of Karma. Buddhism says that man is the maker of his destiny and believed in rebirth. The evil deeds will be punished. Therefore, man should follow a middle path. It is karma which decides the type of existence in the next life. It is called thewheel of Existence.

Stress on Morality : Buddha insisted on a life based on good actions. His followers were enjoined to practise nonviolence and to lead a upright life.

Nirvana : The ultimate goal of life is to attain Nirvana or salvation, the eternal peace and bliss. It is a peaceful state of mind, which conquers all diseases, makes the person free from the chain of births and deaths.

Universal Brotherhood : Lord Buddha preached universal brotherhood of mankind. He wanted people to live in peace setting aside all their feuds. He invited people of all classes and races to join Buddhism.

No Faith in Rituals and Sacrifices : Buddha said that yajnas cannot change a man's destiny. Sacrifices and rituals are empty rhetorics.

Ahinsa : Like Mahavira, Buddha attached importance to sanctity of life.

Devotees reaffirm their faith in the five principles called Panchsheel:
    1. Do not to take life
    2. Do not to steal
    3. Do not to lie
    4. Do not to consume liquor or other intoxicants
    5. Do not to commit adultery

    Greatness of Sikhism

    Sikhism:

A progressive religion well ahead of its time when it was founded over 500 years ago. Sikhism preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God at all times, truthful living, equality of mankind and denounces superstitions and blind ritualsIt is a Universal Religion, a Religion for whole Mankind.
    • It prays to Almighty, the only ONE God. He is all pervasive, in creations and creatures, in all the mass and matter, in space, in water, in land and on land and in the air. He is, in essence, in each particle and atom. He is thus immaculate, Immanent, Transcendental. In Sikhism - God is remembered as WAHEGURU, meaning Wonderful God. Allah-hu-Akbar, Hyeraan-kun-Khuda, Vismaad-Hari, Aascheriya-Brahma, Wonderful God are all the synonymous terms in different languages and religions.
    • All humans can pray together sitting at one place.
    • All can take bath in one pond, reservoir or a common bathing place.
    • All can eat together sitting at one place.
This is to preach all, Oneness of God, Universal brotherhood, no egoistic approach and distinction in between high and low, big and small, rich and poor, black and white, man and woman, religion, country, place or any other such criteria whatsoever.

    About women Guru Nanak wrote:

"From woman is our birth, in the woman's womb are we conceived. To the woman we are engaged, To the woman we are wedded. The woman is our friend, from the woman is the family, yea, through the woman are our bonds with the world, Why call woman evil who gives birth to the kings and all? From the woman is the woman, without the woman there is none, save the one God alone" - Guru Nanak (Guru Granth Sahib - Page 473)

Guru Nanak had two companions - one Muslim by name Mardaana, the other Hindu by name Bala. He addressed them as Bhaees means brothers - Bhai Mardaana and Bhai Balaa.

He said " God is our Father and we are his Children."

    Perception of GOD:

God is One, All Prevailing, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient.
    • He is Truth, His name is True.
    • He is the Creator.
    • He is immaculate, acts on His Own, depends upon no body and takes advice of no body.
    • He is fearless, knows no fear.
    • He has no enmity, hates no body.
    • He is Imminent, not time bound, His is Transcendental not destructible.
    • He does not take birth, does not come in the world in any One Form.
    • Whole Universe is His manifestation.
    • He is His Own Self, Own Created, Self Evolved.
    • He can be realized only through a blessed soul, a True Guru.
Why a True Guru is required?

      • A human since his birth till his death needs company. Mother, father, brothers, sisters, relatives, sons, daughters, grand children are the best example of this. All these relatives, when their own interests vary from each other, prove to be selfish at one stage or the other. In the words of 9th Guru, Guru Teg Bahadur "In this world, I have not found any true friend. The whole world is attached to its own pleasures, and when trouble comes, no one is with you." (Sri Guru Granth Sahib - page 633)
      • The cause of all sufferings is the man's ego, lust, and greed. When greed is not fulfilled desire rises, when desire is not fulfilled anger develops. Ego is the main cause of all sufferings. Man can be happy, if he gives up his ego. But then how and whom to give up him self - his own ego. He must be a really true friend, a well wisher, believable, protector, powerful and great. So is the need of the True Guru.
Who can be a True Guru?

A person, in whom resides the "Word of God" - the eternal knowledge of God; who is one with God; who knows what is the Will of God; who is not affected of sorrow, happiness, praise, insult, fear, threat; who loves all equally irrespective of friends, foes, relatives, young, old, rich, poor etc, is a true Guru. It is not his body in flesh and bones that is Guru, instead, it is the knowledge of God. "Word of God" which resides in him is the Guru. For Sikhs "Word of God" resided in the ten human Gurus. After the 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, in his own words, the 'Word of God' resides in Gurbani.

      Status of a true sikh

(In the words of Saint Ravidaas in Sri Guru Granth Sahib -Page 345)

Baygumpura, 'the city without sorrow', is the name of the town.

There is no suffering or anxiety there.

There are no troubles or taxes on commodities there.

There is no fear, blemish or downfall there.

Now, I have found this most excellent city.

There is lasting peace and safety there, O Siblings of Destiny.

God's Kingdom is steady, stable and eternal.

There is no second or third status; all are equal there.

That city is populous and eternally famous.

Those who live there are wealthy and contented.

They stroll about freely, just as they please.

They know the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and no one blocks their way.

Says Ravi Daas, the emancipated shoe-maker.

whoever is a citizen there, is a friend of mine.

      The Sikhs believe:

Raaj bina neh Dharam chle hein,

Dharam bina sabh daley maley hain.

Without power one cannot practice righteousness,

Without righteousness whole mankind shall go astray.

So is the slogan of the Sikhs:

Raj karega Khalsa, aaki rahe na koey,

Khawaar hoey sabh milengey, bache sharan jo hoey.

The pure shall rule, no one will disregard.

The impure shall repent and join, get saved in the feet of God.

      Greatness of Christianity

"What do Christians believe about God?"

The most important thing in any religion is its idea of God. Some People thinks that Christian worship the cross, and even image of men but it is not true True Christians have always believed in the One True God, Jesus Christ said to one who asked him which is the greatest of God's commandments. Jesus replied: "The Lord our God, the Lord is one, and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." All God's prophets in ancient times proclaimed the Unity of God, and cried out against idols and all who worshiped them.

Christians also believe that God had no beginning, and will have no end, for He is eternal, Christian believe that God possesses all knowledge and power, and that He created all things, seen and unseen, by His Word. If one looks upward at the sun and moon and the millions of stars, and begins to understand even a little of the greatness and wonder of all creation, he will exclaim as did the prophet David: "The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork."

While all of the attributes of God are of the greatest importance to people, Christians are especially thankful that the God whom they worship is a loving God. So important is this quality of love that in the Holy bible it is stated that "God is love".

Christians believe that God sent prophets to speak His Word to men. Because of their sins most men did not want to hear God's voice, or else because of their spiritual deafness were unable to do so. However, there were some men and women who repented and were forgiven by God. God spoke to them and appointed them to speak His message to others. Thus they became prophets of God.

THE RELIGIOUS DUTIES AND PRACTICES OF CHRISTIANS

PRAYER- Since the worship of Christians differs in some respects from that of followers of other religions, it has sometimes been mistakenly suppose that Christians have no religious duties but it is not true the purpose of worship of Christians is not to earn salvation and forgiveness of sins. Jesus did not give to His followers prayers which they must repeat daily at fixed times in the Hebrew or Greek languages as they face a certain direction. Instead, He told them to come to God as children would come to their father , at whatever time or place they wished, and speak to Him out of their hearts in their Moses other tongue. The form of prayer is not important, but it is essential that they worship God sincerely and with minds and hearts. Christians pray when they meet together with other believers in their church buildings, with their families at home and silently when going about their daily work. Many Christians have the habit of reading a portion of the Bible and praying in private each day. In their prayers they thank God for His many gifts, they confess their sins and seek forgiveness, and they pray for the healing of the sick and for the salvation of unbelievers. They also pray for their rulers, and for the peace of the world. Jesus said we must always pray. Since Sunday was the day on which Jesus Christ rose from the dead, every Sunday is a holy day for Christians. Usually worship in the churches is conducted Sunday, and often on other days also. In the church worship the Bible is read, sacred songs are sung, and a sermon is preached by the minister.

      FASTING
Jesus Christ did not appoint any special days or times of fasting for His followers, hence, fasting is optional for them. However, He told them that whenever they fasted theft should do this to please God and not, like the hypocrites, to get glory from men

      ALMS GIVING
Jesus did not appoint a fixed proportion of one's income or capital which should be given by Christians to the work of God and to the poor. However, He taught that all we have belongs to God and we should use our money be it little or much, as God directs. Christians therefore express their gratitude to God by giving willingly of what He has entrusted to them to support their pastors and the work of their churches to help the poor and the sick, and to send the Good News of Christ to people who have not heart it.

      PILGRIMAGES
Jesus Christ did not command His followers to go on pilgrimage to any holy place, for God is everywhere and one may worship Him in every place.

      FESTIVALS
Jesus did not command that certain feast days be observed by His followers. However, Christians usually observed least three important feasts, first there is Christmas, the feast of the birth of Jesus Christ. Most Christians observe Christmas on December 25, but some observe it on January 6.

      HOLY RITES (SACRAMENTS)
Jesus appointed two rites to be observed in His Church. The first is Baptism and the second is Holy Communion, also called the Lord's Supper. On the night before His crucifixion Jesus Christ gave bread to His apostles saying, "This is my body." He also gave a cup of wine, saying, "This is my blood". Jesus used the bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood. And He commanded His followers to observe this rite in memory of Him.

      MARRIAGE
According to the command of Jesus Christ one man and one woman are to be united in marriage, and are to love one another and be faithful to one another as long as they live Jesus said, "What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder." Divorce is therefore forbidden, except in the event of adultery

The love of Christ for people was expressed not only by words, but by healing the sick and feeding the hungry and giving His life on the cross to save sinners. It is this love which gives Christians the desire to establish hospitals for the healing of the sick, homes for orphans, schools for children, and other agencies to serve people of all races and religions. Jesus wanted love to be the distinctive mark of His followers.

      Greatness of Hinduism

Sanatana Dharma or Righteousness Forever was the original name of Hinduism. “Om” is a Hindu word. It is a syllable that stands for absolute.

Hinduism is a "A way of life." It has no founder. It has no Pope. It has no hierarchy. Just thousands years old great scriptures. In Hindu scriptures, one can actually know about the history and culture of India.

      Strength of Hinduism
Hinduism cannot be destroyed, even if one burn every Hindu scripture and kill every Hindu theologian on earth. Hinduism or Hindu Culture is a very dynamic living, breathing Reality. Strength of Hinduism lies in its most amazing ability to adapt to different circumstances and different ages while maintaining its very strong continuity with the past. It is the research output of countless learned men called Rishis who were Christ like masters, through centuries.

      Who is a Hindu?
It is said anyone who search after truth is a Hindu. There is One and only God and One Truth. The scriptures Rig Veda proclaim, "Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti".

      Unique about Hinduism
The concepts of utmost freedom of thoughts and actions are the essence of Hinduism. Hinduism never forbids any one to question its fundamentals. Hinduism never ever banished any one, since he or she wrote a wrong scripture or did not observe a particular ritual. Mahatma Gandhi wrote, even atheists can call themselves as Hindus. That is very true.

      Prominent themes in Hinduism

Dharma - individual ethics, duties and obligations.

Samsāra (rebirth or reincarnation)- According to the doctrine of reincarnation (Samsāra), the soul is immortal, while the body is subject to birth and death.

Karma (fate or right action) – whatever we do forms our path of future.

Moksha (deliverance from the cycle of birth and death): a person realizes that he is not the body, but the immortal soul (Atman) within, realizing that he is the Immortal self and not the perishable body.

Path of Self-Realization can be obtain by four paths -

1 Jnana Yoga - Path of Knowledge

2 Karma Yoga - Path of Selfless Actions

3 Bhakti Yoga - Path of Devotion

4 Raja Yoga - Path of Breath Control and Pranayama

      Namaste'
It is the popular Hindu greeting performed by pressing two hands together and holding them near the heart. The whole act communicate to the world 'You and I are one. I salute and worship the God within you, which is a mirror image of myself".

      Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
'Vasudha' refers to the Earth or to the entire Creation, meaning the vast cosmos. 'Eva' means “certainly” or “verily.” 'Kutumbam' means a family... which means, the whole world is one family. The peace can come fi...rst within you and through you to everybody, only then you are in unity together. When you work together with each other, you will be stronger. But if you work against others, you will be the weak one.

"Freedom of Thoughts and Actions." is what Hinduism stands for.

We believe that the foundation of every religion is based on the teachings for the humanity as a whole not only for their followers, so why they are kept within the boundaries of particular religion only.... let us spread the sacred colors of love from all the religions on this platform & then to the whole nation.... so that we all can learn to respect each other religion & follow the way they are showing.

Please share only the teachings that are helpful for all human beings, and avoid topics of arguments as our aim is to respect each other & to spread love & peace in this country.

For this we are creating four different documents for each religion teachings & all the comments & teachings will be shared on these docs only so that they could be archived for everyone to go through without being lost in the older posts.

Any comment that may raise controversies will be immediately deleted.

Are you a True Patriot? Make sure of it...

Any one who say that he loves his/her country should first know what the meaning of our nation is. Our nation India means people from Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism & Jainism. All are integral parts of our motherland. If you love your religion more then others then you don't love your whole country nor you are a true patriot. You can't love a part of our country and hate the other. Love towards other religion will come through sacrifice, sacrifice of our personal concerns over national interests. That is the only virtue of being Indian. So, don't ever talk about anything that spreads hatred instead of love, nor let your brotherhood relation disturbed by any incident or acts by anti-national-integrity forces.

Dararein diwaron ki neev hoti hain aur diwarein hi mulk to baatati hein... hum ek honge toh desh majboot hoga warna humare haatho se hi yeh desh kamjor hoga..

      Communalism on Gujarat Riots

All those who are behind Godhara & Malegaon blasts & riots should stop raising their eyebrows on each other. This will lead to nothing more than hatred and such another incident in future. Though we condemn all such acts that are against humanity but we condemn more the poison of communalism that is prevailing with hatred on both sides, which result in such riots. When we are biased towards a community we are discarding nation’s interest over that of the community, that is not at all true patriotism. The way we are crying on for the last 8 years over the consequences of such riots we should now will have to think & act for those 7000 killings of our people by hunger that is going on daily in our country. Clean up your hearts towards each other and let us show this poison that we are true Indians and can ignore everything in front of interests of our nation.

Our mission starts with spreading love & awakening patriotism amongst all sects & people of India.
